Celebrating the 2025 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer Award Recipients

$9.4 million raised — a record-breaking year for Albertans facing cancer.

This year’s Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer was one for the record books. Together, our riders, volunteers, donors, and supporters raised an astonishing $9.4 million, the highest in our event’s history, bringing the total raised since the Tour’s inception to over $111 million for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

That number represents far more than fundraising success, it reflects the collective spirit of hope that defines this event. At our Rider Recognition Events in Calgary and Edmonton, we celebrated the extraordinary individuals and teams who made this achievement possible.

Here are the highlights from an unforgettable celebration of impact, passion, and purpose.

Top Individual Fundraisers

Max Chan — $209,250 raised this year | $686,277 lifetime
Our top fundraiser of 2025, Max Chan, continues to lead by example. Max is deeply dedicated to our cause and mission, and this year, he also took on the role of Board Chair for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. His leadership and commitment to both Enbridge and the Tour are truly inspiring. While Max was unable to attend the event, his wife, Denise, accepted the award on his behalf.

Vern Yu — $173,676 raised this year | $1,115,490 lifetime
Vern has been a dedicated rider with the Tour since the very beginning earning a spot in the top fundraising list every single year. His leadership has inspired countless others to get involved, and this year, his efforts earned him another major milestone: becoming the first individual in Tour history to surpass $1 million in lifetime fundraising. Vern’s legacy is deeply woven into the very fabric of this event.

John Davis — $134,340 raised this year | $239,008 lifetime
In only his second year, John Davis has already made a powerful mark on the Tour. His extraordinary fundraising efforts and his family’s commitment to the cause have inspired everyone who has had the chance to ride alongside him. 

Top Corporate Teams 

There are more than 75 corporations represented at the Tour, and together they showcase the incredible community of leadership that exists across Alberta. From boardrooms to bike routes, these teams prove that corporate commitment can drive real and lasting impact.

Team Enbridge

The powerhouse team at Enbridge have once again raised the bar. Enbridge raised an incredible $880,144 in 2025, their highest total ever, bringing their lifetime fundraising total to $9.3 million! Beyond their fundraising, Enbridge continues to demonstrate leadership as our title partner, ensuring every dollar raised moves us closer to a future free of cancer.

Team AltaGas

In only their second year, Team AltaGas nearly doubled both their rider count and their fundraising total, raising an astounding $702,940 in 2025 and over $1 million overall. Their success is a powerful example of what’s possible when leadership inspires and an entire company rallies behind a shared cause.

Team Suncor

With a record-setting $363,541 raised in 2025, Team Suncor returned to the top three and made their mark as Northern Lights Sponsors, bringing their signature slushie station and unmatched energy to the event weekend. This 11-year team has picked up huge momentum, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store next year.

Corporate Team Awards by Size

New this year, we’re also recognizing the incredible fundraising leaders across all team sizes. Congratulations to our top fundraising teams in each category!

B&A Coastbusters (1–5 riders) This small but mighty group of five riders led by captain Ken Venner, raised an incredible $17,730! Proving even a small crew can inspire massive impact.

Team Sproule ERCE (6–15 riders) In their third year, 14 riders raised $58,844, bringing their lifetime total to $195,844. They lead not only in fundraising but in heart, openly sharing why they ride and motivating others to join the cause.

Team Precision Drilling (16–25 riders) This committed team of 25 raised $187,455 this year, for a total of $584,889 raised over four years. Their unwavering commitment and shared vision for a cancer-free future inspire us all. 

Team RBC (26–40 riders) A proud and long-standing partner since 2012, RBC is now 40 riders strong, representing multiple business sectors. They raised $230,902 this year bringing their lifetime total to an incredible $1,464,947.

Team ATCO (41–60 riders) Founded by Jim Landon, this 42-rider team raised $308,944 and continues to support the event through volunteerism and breakfasts that keep riders fueled all weekend long.

Top Community Teams

The heart of the Tour lies in the communities that rally together; families, friends, and neighbors united by compassion and shared purpose. These top community teams remind us that hope grows stronger when we ride together.

Team Colton
This deeply connected team has truly touched our hearts, raising $304,304 this year and $689,747 total. This united community continues to share the powerful stories of our most vulnerable and their cancer journeys, inspiring everyone around them.

Team Arthur Child Cancer Conquerors (ACCC)
Representing Alberta’s largest comprehensive cancer centre, this team includes patients, physicians, researchers, and community members like their devoted captain, Larry Clark. They raised $261,000 this year, bringing their total to $2,865,362.

Team Leah – Fight for your cure
From the small town of Taber, a community has stood united behind a shining light named Leah.  Team Leah is once again a top community team, raising an outstanding $148,002 with 52 riders. Now in their sixth year, they have raised an extraordinary $482,277 in total, a true testament to the power of community and love. 

Community Team Awards by Size

Team Davis (1–5 riders) This family team of three raised $144,703 this year, showing that even the smallest teams can create extraordinary change when they lead with their hearts.

Sunshine Strong (6–15 riders) Led by our 2025 Opening Ceremonies speaker, Colin, this first-year team raised a remarkable $103,292. Colin’s genuine spirit and open heart inspires everyone around him and his team truly embodies resilience, community, and unwavering support.

Team ACF (16–25 riders) This special team represents the Foundation itself and is made up of long-time riders, including a few who’ve been with us for 17 years, as well as past employees, current staff, and dedicated volunteers. Together, they raised an impressive $65,247.

Special Recognition Awards

The Tour thrives because of the leaders and motivators who bring others along for the ride. These awards recognize individuals and teams who’ve sparked growth, inspired generosity, and gone the extra mile.

Outstanding Corporate Captain: Heather Campbell, Team Imperial — Heather led her team to their first-ever $100,000 fundraising year! Leading with heart and determination, she shows her team the power of community and motivates them to make a real difference in our community.

Outstanding Community Captain: Andrew Gregory, Team Alberta Cancer Foundation — A cancer survivor and captain of the Alberta Cancer Foundation team, Andrew leads with heart and purpose, inspiring his teammates and community through his dedication and belief in the power of research and care. 

Best New Corporate Team: Canadian Natural Resources Limited — With a phenomenal first-year performance, Team CNRL raised $92,190 with 25 members strong. Led with enthusiasm and genuine passion by their captain, Michelle, they’ve shown what can happen when teamwork and heart come together for a great cause.

Growth Drivers: Rodney Guest & Cheryse Maslen, Suncor Sun Riders —Together, Rodney and Cheryse were responsible for driving a 114% fundraising increase and securing corporate support to help their team become Northern Lights Sponsors for the first time. Their personal efforts sparked remarkable growth within the Tour community this past year.

Pinnacle Performer Award: Don Wilson — New to the Tour this year, Don’s story of perseverance and transformation captured hearts. Setting out with a $2,500 goal, he exceeded all expectations raising $7,300 and inspiring everyone around him.

Luminary Award: Barbara Munroe — As a longtime rider and former Alberta Cancer Foundation Trustee, Barbara’s generosity, leadership, and quiet strength have touched everyone around her.

Heart and Soul Awards

These recipients exemplify the heart, humor, and hope that define our Tour community.

Dmitry Bogatkov — As a six-year rider, Dmitry brought the spirit of the Tour to his new company, Strathcona Resources, forming a new team and inspiring others along the way.

Paul Boucher — Known for his smooth, announcer-style voice and leadership, Paul’s positivity and energy continue to bring people together year after year.

Team Flo Riders — New to the Tour, this dynamic duo hosted a memorable pickleball fundraiser and raised $9,410! They are already gearing up for a bigger 2026 season and we can’t wait to see how they grow.

Diamonds In The Rough — A small team of five who raised nearly $30,000, this dedicated team shows us each year the importance of resilience and the true meaning of community.

John Alberati — This behind-the-scenes tech hero uses humor and problem-solving to keep the Tour office running smoothly. Year after year, he crosses the finish line with the same upbeat spirit that lifts everyone around him.

Karen Garriock-Durbeniuk, Team ACCC — Affectionately known as the “Cookie Queen,” her kindness and weekly homemade treats uplifted the Tour office in each interaction. Her warmth and generosity is extended to her ride team, and reminds us that one person’s kindness can uplift many.

Sodbusters — These local heroes lend their land, logistics, and unwavering generosity to make the Strathmore event possible. Among their committed group is Doug, our most experienced rider at 84 years young!

Breanden Daniels, ARC Resources — Known as one of the most compassionate leaders at the Tour, Breanden co-founded the ARC team, growing it to over 50 riders and establishing them as a proud Northern Lights Partner. He also serves on our leadership committee and brings fresh ideas and perspectives to the Tour year after year.

Mike Fehr — Riding since 2019, Mike has led his team with unwavering passion and determination, helping raise more than $114,000 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. His leadership and hope for a cancer-free future inspire everyone who rides alongside him.

Kelly & Kelly Leibe — This remarkable family has been part of the Tour for over a decade, embodying kindness, compassion, and commitment year after year. Their warmth and genuine spirit have made them beloved members of the Tour community.

Distinguished Honours

Million Dollar Team Milestone: Team AltaGas — In just two short years, Team AltaGas has achieved what few teams have — surpassing the $1 million fundraising milestone. Their passion, teamwork, and belief in the power of community have made a remarkable impact, both on the Tour and for Albertans facing cancer. Led by their incredible captains Jasmine, Sheila, and Thomas, this team’s dedication shows what’s possible when people unite around a shared purpose.

Million Dollar Individual Milestone: Vern Yu —This year, we celebrated a first in Tour history. Vern Yu’s unwavering commitment over 17 years has helped shape the Tour into what it is today. A founding rider, visionary leader, and steadfast advocate, Vern’s passion has inspired thousands to join the movement. His efforts remind us that one person’s dedication can create a ripple of hope that touches countless lives.

This year’s record-breaking $9.4 million raised represents more than a number — it’s a reflection of the hope, courage, and compassion that fuel this movement. Every kilometer pedaled and every dollar raised supports the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s mission of a cancer-free future.

To every rider, donor, volunteer, and supporter — thank you for making this the most impactful year in Tour history. Together, we ride for more milestones, more time, and more hope.
