On January 23, riders across Alberta came together for Spin for Hope, a full-day spin-a-thon that proved just how powerful our community can be when we ride with purpose.
Hosted simultaneously at the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary and the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, the event brought together 66 riders who pedalled their hearts out in support of cancer care and research in Alberta.
Together, participants logged an incredible 1,027.75 kilometres:
303.5 km ridden in Calgary
724.25 km ridden in Edmonton
Here are the highlights from an unforgettable celebration of impact, passion, and purpose.
Top Distance Riders
A special shoutout goes to our top distance riders at each site:
Kathleen Olivotto with an impressive 29.9 km in Calgary
Mazen Bou Diab who led the way in Edmonton with 19.5 km
Stories worth pedalling for
Beyond the bikes, Spin for Hope was a space for connection, reflection, and inspiration.
Thanks to the energy and enthusiasm of everyone who participated, the event also helped recruit new riders and teams to the 2026 Tour—proof that showing up can spark something even bigger.
A heartfelt thank you to Mary Benning and Don Wilson for sharing their stories with the media and reminding us why every kilometre matters.

Celebrating Our Riders
To celebrate everyone who took part, five riders walked away with $200 donations to their fundraising page after a random draw. Congratulations to:
Roger Ether (Team ENMAX)
Alysha Kanji (Keyera)
Eli Bruce (Team Bird)
Larry Clark (Team Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre)
Our sincere thanks to every rider, volunteer, and supporter who made Spin for Hope such a success. From the kilometres ridden to the stories shared, this day was a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish together.
