***Note the earlier start time from the Tuscany rides***
Also – note the RBC involvement – thank you Wallace Chow, Toby Cullingham, and Mark Farris for leading these rides! Thanks also to southies Dan Sobering and others for pinch-leading.
This route will take us on country roads through the rolling hills around De Winton. It will be a roughly 35 km ride with 420 m of ascents.
Training Ride Cancellations will be communicated via 60 – 90 minutes before the ride.
We know better by now than to let weather forecasts rule our decisions in Calgary, so unless you see a cancellation, we plan to be there and welcome your company.
Notes from ride leaders.
You’re all welcome to join
– Helmets are mandatory
– Lights (particularly rear lights) are recommended.
– Be mindful of gravel, especially at turns.
– Please ride in single file on busy roads.
– Please check for oncoming traffic and give fellow riders a heads-up before passing.
– Pls be mindful of pulling out into traffic to pass, especially going uphill
– Pls keep a safe distance from the bike in front, and be very careful on drafting
– Pls follow all traffic signs and signals, for example, stop at STOP signs unless a ride leader is waving you through
– pls do not simply follow other riders when crossing traffic. It may be safe for them to cross but not for you; always use your own judgment based on your own ability.
– also be mindful of any move that may affect the safety of others
– Rule #1 Safety first
– Rule #2 is don’t forget Rule #1
– Everyone is 100% responsible for their own actions and safety. Ride leaders are volunteers who are just guiding the route; they are not liable for your safety.
– Lastly, we cannot control how drivers and other people view or feel about cyclists on the road, but whenever we are riding, we become the ambassadors of the entire cycling community, so pls keep that in mind, be a good and courteous ambassador
Let’s Ride!
