***Important notes about Saturday Training rides:
We’re continuing to alternate our Saturday rides between the Bragg Creek Training Ride and riding along the Bow Valley Parkway. Saturday, May 9th, it will be Bragg Creek.
1) The ride proceeds along Springbank Road to Highway 22.
Note that the shoulder on Springbank Road varies from nearly non-existent to sufficient. So until we reach Highway 22, it’s single-file riding.
2) There are various distance options. There may not be enough One Aim captains or volunteers on any given Saturday to support the longer distances. However, the distance options are:
– 50K to the Cinnamon Spoon café in Bragg Creek (espresso and pastry stop!)
– 60-ish km to a neighbourhood turnaround west of Bragg Creek.
– 72-ish km at another neighbourhood turnaround closer to West Bragg.
– You can also choose to double up on the loops to push your distance close to 100 km.
3) Please RSVP to let us know how many people to expect.
Training Ride Cancellations will be communicated in as timely a fashion as possible.
We know better by now than to let weather forecasts rule our decisions, so unless you see a cancellation, we plan to be there and welcome your company.
Notes from your One Aim Cap’ns:
– Helmets are mandatory.
– Lights (particularly rear lights) are recommended.
– Ride single file, especially along Springbank Road.
– Please give fellow humans a heads-up before passing.
– Please maintain a safe distance from the bike in front and be very careful when drafting.
– Be mindful of any move that may affect the safety of others. If in doubt, just don’t.
– Rule #1: Safety first.
– Rule #2 is don’t forget Rule #1.
– Everyone is 100% responsible for their actions and safety. Ride leaders are volunteers who guide; they are not liable for your safety.
– Lastly, we cannot control how other people view or feel about cyclists, but whenever we are riding, we become the ambassadors of the entire cycling community, so pls keep that in mind, be a good and courteous ambassador.
Let’s Ride!
